For a while, I've read and heard the term "polyamorist", and have become increasingly baffled each time.

Wikipedia defines an '-ism' as follows:

The suffix -ism denotes a distinctive system of beliefs, myth, doctrine or theory that guides a social movement, institution, class or group.

Has polyamory as a concept really reached a level where it has become a '-ism'?
